ABOUT US
Connecting knowledge, protecting life
Reva Atea is an organisation that brings together citizens, scientists, and local stakeholders to ensure the long-term preservation of Polynesian biodiversity.
Our missions
Understand, Share, Preserve
Reva Atea builds bridges between science, culture, and education to strengthen the knowledge and commitment of Polynesian communities facing environmental challenges. By creating spaces for sharing and collaboration, the association walks alongside local partners as they learn about and protect the living world.
Our commitment
Confronted to changes, we build connections
As natural environments change rapidly, protecting our ecosystems relies as much on scientific progress as on local knowledge and sharing that knowledge with communities. Reva Atea develops projects that help local communities better understand these challenges and make them their own.
Our vision
A future where everyone becomes a changemaker for nature
A Polynesia where science, culture, and communities work together to care for the living world. A future where today’s and tomorrow’s generations understand, respect, and protect their environment, thanks to an alliance between the wisdom of elders, scientific discoveries, and the energy of communities.
Our principles in action

Local anchorage
We shape our work alongside territorial realities, local communities and ancestral knowledge.

Action on the ground
We focus on field-based initiatives and immersive experiences to help the community rebuild a deep, long‑term bond with the environment.

Accessibility
We aim to make environmental knowledge accessible to everyone, regardless of age and background.

Celebrating Polynesian culture
We encourage the sharing of traditions and cultural exchange between the archipelagos and across the Pacific.

Cooperation
We encourage dialogue between local communities, scientists, teachers, and partners across the islands, in a spirit of mutual support, respect, and listening.

Our story
Founded in 2019, Reva Atea is an association driven by people committed to understanding, valuing, and preserving Polynesian ecosystems. Their field experience, working closely with the living world and local knowledge, has given rise to a shared conviction: this knowledge, though essential, is still too rarely passed on, even though it is a precious resource for institutions, communities, and everyone across the islands. Driven by a deep passion for island ecosystems and Polynesian knowledge, the founder chose to make this knowledge accessible to as many people as possible, so that everyone can understand their environment, act to protect it, and help pass on the natural and cultural heritage.
This is the vision from which Reva Atea was born, with the ambition of building bridges between science, culture, and education, and of raising awareness among young and old alike of the environmental and cultural challenges facing the fenua.
Since its founding, the association has designed and carried out educational, scientific, and participatory projects that give everyone the means to better understand the issues facing the islands, develop their critical thinking, and become active in protecting them. Today, Reva Atea relies on a network of local partners (researchers, teachers, associations, institutions, and community members) to build initiatives rooted in the realities of the islands and to contribute lastingly to their future.
